Douglas Strachan

Douglas’s project experience includes a broad range of sectors and scales, having worked in practice since 2006, qualifying as an Architect in 2009, and studying Construction Project Management in 2012.  Early on, he primarily worked on high-quality residential projects, often in conservation areas and making contemporary additions to listed buildings. His main passion in Architecture is for helping people influence places, leading to a particular expertise in in community-led projects, which includes an understanding of funding and business models for their delivery.

Douglas has also pursued his care for community outside of the business in a voluntary capacity. He is a founding member and Chairperson of One Dalkeith, a Community Development Trust, which actively combines community empowerment and social enterprise in the pursuit of the social, economic and environmental regeneration of Dalkeith. This is the location of our Midlothian office, and where Douglas started his family.

Whilst spending time with his family, Douglas has tried to pass-on his taste in rock music, skateboarding and Star-Trek, but actually prefers helping his boys to develop their own interests!
