Alan joined the practice in 1985, having studied building technology at Fife College, then moving onto study at Heriot-Watt, Edinburgh, and the Glasgow School of Art.
With a passion for the fast-paced interior design environment, Alan continues to develop and work on projects across the UK, earning the practice many accolades and awards for interior design projects. Therefore, the practice is renowned for its expertise, creating innovative interiors and repurposing existing structures. Part of Alan’s mission has been nurturing long-standing relationships with hospitality and brewery operators across Scotland and Northern England, with clients including Heineken, Star Pubs & Bars, Greene King Retailing (incorporating the Belhaven Group), Admiral Taverns, Punch Pubs and many other valued private client groups. This role takes in the geography of Scotland and islands, along with the North of England.
Overseeing all aspects of the practice portfolio, including the management of multi-disciplinary contractors has been a challenge which Alan has embraced and excelled in. His efficient management style consistently ensures project deadlines and client aspirations are met. Alan is also committed to nurturing talent and fostering career development for his team members.
Despite his demanding schedule, Alan, in his private time can be found walking the coastal paths of Fife or fulfilling his role as chairman of a local clay pigeon club. You can often find Alan down on the range fine tuning his clay pigeon and target shooting skills.
