Clelands Volvo, founded by British Touring Car Champion John Clelland, is an established family-run business with over thirty years motor retail experience and one of the most respected Volvo dealerships in the country. They approached CSY to realise the reconfiguration of their showroom in Galashiels by proposing a radical transformation to create a modern showpiece facility for the brand.
CSY listened carefully to Cleland’s requirements, appraising existing operations and providing a series of outline options appraisals to help refine their brief. The final proposal established a new front entrance to orientate the public towards key customer service and sales areas whilst the back of house servicing area was reconfigured to optimise efficiency. Further floor space was added at first floor level to provide further meeting and staff space and future proof business expansion for the foreseeable future.
The external facades of the existing building were in need of reconsideration with crisp, carefully detailed render and expansive, aluminium framed glazing proposed by CSY to help emphasise the simple geometry of the showroom building. A fully-glazed sales pavilion within the forecourt completes this approach.

The project was constructed within the constraints of a tight budget and programme and delivered a building with a strong identity that is reflective of the values of Clelands and the wider Volvo brand to provide an enhanced customer experience.
