CSY Architects are currently seeking an experienced mid-weight designer to join our architectural interior design team. The role would be primarily working on commercial hospitality projects, including bars and restaurants across Scotland and the UK.
CSY Architects are a design-led practice, operating from four studios, in Fife, the Lothians, the Borders, and Northumberland. The practice is the result of four existing practices having merged, the oldest of which was formed in 1963. The fourth practice to join CSY Architects was Davidson Baxter Partnership (DBP), bringing over 40 years of experience and a particular expertise in both the Architectural and Interiors elements of commercial hospitality projects. This remains a substantial part of the combined practice’s work and we are seeking to further enhance our capacity to deliver these projects.
This role will service an interesting portfolio of commercial hospitality projects across the UK. The interiors team is currently based in our Fife studio, but we are open to this position being based in another one of our studios and there is some scope for hybrid working within the UK. CSY Architects provide an especially streamlined service on these projects when providing both Interior Design and Architectural services. Collaboration between team members with a range of qualifications and specialisms is therefore key to our success. We are are open to applications from those with Interior Design or Interior Architecture qualifications if the candidate has the appropriate expertise and a minimum of three to five years of relevant experience. The role would be adding to an experienced team, under Associate and Director management, and supported by more junior staff. As this sector of our work continues to increase, there is scope for the successful candidate to develop from this mid-weight role to a more senior position over time.
Role Description
We are presently look for a talented, innovative, experienced mid-weight designer to work closely with our existing team of Architectural Interior Designers across our four offices, serving projects throughout the UK. The ideal candidate will be passionate about both architecture and interior design, have a minimum of three to five years of relevant experience of working in the hospitality sector, including commercial interiors. A portfolio of real completed projects should be provided when applying.
The role will involve supporting Directors, Associates, and Senior Designers in delivering creative concepts and ideas in response to a client brief, at the initial design stages, through the more detailed production information stages and onto delivery.
Candidate Characteristics
Excellent graphic, written and verbal presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience in high-end architectural and interior design, including FF+E
- Experience of project execution on site, communication and coordination
- Ability to source and specify products, which will be project-specific
- Highly organized with great attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills
- Excellent time management and ability to meet client deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of the wider team
- Understanding of and ability to apply current building standards throughout the design process
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, InDesign, Excel etc.
- A good working knowledge of materials and current trends
- Good understanding of both classic and contemporary design styles
